Item Description
2" dia. No maker. Shown in New York Yankees cap, he played for the team 1955-67 and was also a coach 1969-79. In 1955, he was the first African American player on the Yankees roster; this was eight years after Jackie Robinson had broken the MLB color barrier in 1947. He started his playing career in the Negro Leagues with the KC Monarchs, 1948-50. A twelve-time All-Star, AL MVP in 1963 and six-time World Series champ. His #32 has been retired by the Yankees.
