Item Description
1.25" dia. Missing backpaper which read "J. Cogan & Son Men's Fine Shoes Boys' Stoneham, Mass."  Jennings served as manager of the Detroit Tigers 1907-1920. The "E e-Yah" whoop became his trademark and was accompanied with waves of both arms over his head and a sharp raising of his right knee, as depicted on this button. The Tigers manager led the team to three consecutive World Series appearances, 1907-09, although all were losing causes. In addition to his years as a manager, Hughie enjoyed a long career as a player beginning in 1891 with the Louisville Colonels of the American Association. Inducted in the National Baseball Hall Of Fame in 1945. Oxidation on the metal back. Age spotting around entire rim but not affecting image and all color remains bold. Still has a glossy appearance. VG. Rare. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
