Item Description
2.25". Silvering 99% intact but has one .25" spot by edge where silver has tiny ripple lines, as made.  This is a wonderful tinted color sepia scene without a dot screen. Lower caption explains "O'Leary's Farm, Where The Chicago Fire Started Oct. 9th 1871". As cow kicks, Mrs. O'Leary goes sprawling, the milk pail overturns, the lantern flares into tinted flame all to the consternation of the animals including a calf, cat, lanky dog and a very agitated goose. The results were truly tragic spanning three days with 300 fatalities and 100,000 left homeless. Rare. NM. Also see #157 McKinley button w/Mrs. O'Leary's cow from 1896 25th fire anniversary. Alan Weinberg Collection.
