Item Description
.5" dia.  "D" logo in two layers of black over white glass with the glass held by thin brass rim which leads to a side edge of brass designed as three concentric circles. Reverse is open with a brass wire on the inner perimeter which joins to an extra long brass stickpin 2-7/8" in length.  The 1909 Detroit Tigers ball club were the champions of the American League with a final regular season record of 98-54 under future Hall of Fame manager Hughie Jennings. Ty Cobb and Sam Crawford were the offensive stalwarts of a team that ultimately lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates in a hotly contested 1909 World Series, four games to three. Some normal tarnish on the front frame edge. A quality-made piece of jewelry. Exc. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
