Item Description
Scarce 2.25" by Cruver, Chicago. One of three varieties with the "Equitable Loan Society" version realizing $3,172 in our last auction.  This version shows uniformed driver with three ladies in bonnets and touring clothes "On Our Way to Geo. W. Shott's Terminal Hotel..."  Top center in his iconic hat, is "Connie Mack, Mgr." with 16 surrounding players, all in matching ovals and most in a profile photo with each last name and abbreviated player position below the image. The 1910 Philadelphia Athletics ball club ran away with the American League pennant, finishing the season with a record of 102-48, leaving them 14.5 games ahead of the second place New York Highlanders under National Baseball Hall of Fame manager Connie Mack. Philadelphia would then go on to dispose of the Chicago Cubs, 4 games to 1, to win the 1910 World Series. The Athletics were led by four HOF team members: Eddie Plank (SP), Chief Bender (SP), Eddie Collins (2B) and Frank "Home Run" Baker (3B). Back has about 50% silvering. Front surface has two tiny raised bumps, scattered all over but light and typical surface scratches just seen in reflected light. Full gloss and VF. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
