Item Description
2.75" tall with solid brass die-cut Indian head profile with color accents, one of only two known examples. The headdress band and ribbon accent curving across the base of the feathers carry the text "Braves/Champs '14". The 1914 Boston Braves club won the National League pennant, finishing with a regular season record of 94-59 under manager George Stallings. The Braves then proceeded to steamroll the Philadelphia Athletics in four straight games to become World's Champions of baseball in a shocking upset of Connie Mack's powerful Athletics ball club. Boston was led throughout their championship season by the keystone combo of future HOF'ers, shortstop Rabbit Maranville and second baseman Johnny Evers. Top of stickpin has small bend in the shaft just below edge of the head. Over 95% metallic paint accents and luster remain. Exc. Paul Muchinsky Collection. See next related item.
