Item Description
1.75" w/back paper of Garrison Toy & Nov. Co. Inc. Wash. D.C. Here is the 26 year old 'boy wonder' team manager on button with blue rim color (red variety see next lot). The 1933 Washington Senators won the American League pennant with a final record of 99-53 under National Baseball Hall of Fame manager/second baseman, Joe Cronin. The ball club was led offensively by the future HOF outfield trio of Goose Goslin, Heinie Manush and Sam Rice. Cronin was the unquestioned leader of the team, fashioning a .309 batting average in 1933 along with 118 RBI's and a league leading 45 doubles. Cronin would go on to finish second in the American League Most Valuable Player award balloting that season and ultimately gained election to Cooperstown in 1956. Unfortunately, the Senators lost the 1933 World Series to the New York Giants in five games. Glossy, Exc. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
