Item Description
2-1/8" no maker with brass luster back and bar pin. This variety includes text "Bronx Bombers" under batter image (see next lot for variant). "Dem Bums" is in reference to the cross-town rival, Brooklyn Dodgers. The 1947 New York Yankees won the American League pennant with a record of 97-57 under future Hall of Fame manager Bucky Harris. The Yanks were led offensively by the great Joe DiMaggio, along with fellow National Baseball Hall of Fame inductees, Yogi Berra and Phil Rizzuto. New York bested the Brooklyn Dodgers in seven games to take the 1947 World Series. Tiny raised cello bump lower right as made and caused by reverse pin. Glossy and Exc.
