Item Description
2-1/8" no maker with design matching previous button but under batter image is date of "1947" as opposed to "Bronx Bombers" on previous lot. "Dem Bums" is in reference to the cross-town rival, Brooklyn Dodgers. The 1947 New York Yankees won the American League pennant with a record of 97-57 under future Hall of Fame manager Bucky Harris. The Yanks were led offensively by the great Joe DiMaggio, along with fellow National Baseball Hall of Fame inductees, Yogi Berra and Phil Rizzuto. New York bested the Brooklyn Dodgers in seven games to take the 1947 World Series.  Light typical surface wear seen only in reflected light. Exc. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
