Item Description
1" with union bug on curl. Single day distribution taking place on May 17, 1913 for "Frank Chance Day" (see next lot for ribbon). Portrait photo at center w/event date below.  Frank Chance was the revered leader of the early 20th century Chicago Cubs dynasty that dominated the National League from 1906-08, thanks in large part to their Hall of Fame double play combination of Joe Tinker, Johnny Evers and Chance, along with starting pitcher Mordecai "Three-Fingers" Brown. In addition to starring as the club's first baseman, Chance also took on the role of manager, where he received the utmost respect from not only his teammates but other ball clubs throughout the National League. Chance would go on to be elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1946. Extreme edge has two rub dots and one pinpoint dot of barely seen missing celluloid. Exc.
