Item Description
First edition 6.25x9" clothbound hardcover w/dust jacket published by Lyle Stewart, Inc. ©1972 Frank Jacobs. Book tells the history of EC Comics and MAD magazine publisher William Gaines, complete w/several photos throughout. First blank page has been inscribed/signed by EC/MAD artists/writers Johnny Craig in blue felt tip pen w/added sketch and Harvey Kurtzman in black felt tip pen, signing his typical "Kurtz" signature finished w/stick figure man. This page also has pasted notecard bearing Bill Gaines signature in black felt tip pen and pasted "MAD" business card of Associate Editor Nick Meglin. Dust jacket shows moderate wear w/splits/tears at top/bottom of spine, but remains unclipped. Fine. Book itself has some corner tip wear and is VF/Exc. w/lightly aged, NM pages. Comes with Hake's COA.
