Item Description
6x13x4" deep cardboard shipping carton bears Howdy Doody portrait on two side panels and notes carton held "12-Two Package Deal Units" of Royal Gelatin Desserts (strawberry) as part of the "Howdy Doody Special Sale." These special promotional two-packs were produced for retail sale as an incentive to buy additional product boxes as each box featured Howdy Doody character trading card to cut out. 1950s. Shipping carton has strips of masking tape across top flaps in three areas; some have since come loose. Carton has some corner tip wear and is Fine/VF. Comes w/two of the "Two Package Deal Units," one strawberry and one raspberry. Lot also includes various Royal product boxes, including 10 boxes of gelatin (in six different flavors), two "Custard Pie Filling" and two pudding boxes. Of these, 10 remain sealed, full boxes. There are four different trading card backs, including Howdy Doody, Clarabell and Buffalo Bob plus one coloring card back. Boxes have variations of Howdy Doody image and text. The two "Two Package Deal Units" are lightly aged but o/w Exc. The other boxes have mild to moderate aging and a few show wear w/some having store markings. Fine to Exc. Interesting lot showing how Royal used Howdy Doody and friends to promote their products.
