Item Description
5" tall w/"Manufactured For Robert H. Miller Alexandria, D.C." on base. Strawberry luster and green polychrome accents including four root and burst design, unlike any we have seen on similar 1840 pitchers. Portrait transfer has flags "Tippecanoe" & "Thames" flanking w/"Harrison & Reform" in banner below. Reverse has fasces surrounded by circle of 29 stars above an eagle w/clutching a ribbon reading "Union For The Sake Of The Union." Hairline crack extending from a tiny chip at bottom right of portrait transfer through the dia. of base that is stable. Otherwise a tiny chip in field below spout and light edge wear. VF. Transfers are evenly dark and the pitcher has terrific display presence. The most ornately decorated variety we've encountered. Mike Nichols Collection.
