Item Description
Six 17-5/8x24.5" Strathmore Craftint artboards feature pen and ink original art for complete six-page story originally published in DRAG Cartoons #1 in June/July 1963 by Pete Millar (1929-2003), illustrator, cartoonist and drag racer known for his work w/CARtoons and DRAG Cartoons magazines. Art is for Route 66 spoof story Route Sickety Sicks and features caricatures of Martin Milner and George Miharis of the Route 66 TV show. While fleeing repo man in their Corvette, they stumble upon a help wanted sign at a country garage where they work on a hot rod while fighting over the garage owner's female assistant. It turns out she's a Pinkerton detective that's been trailing them. Maharis' characters (Booze instead of Buz) tells Milner's character (Toad instead of Tod) that he has a stingray franchise, only for last panel to reveal him diving in a aquarium w/actual stingrays. Millar has signed bottom of first panel on first artboard, which feature great Corvette image. Bottom left of each artboard has "Miller Publication - DRAG Cartoons" inkstamp and inked over page numbers appear in bottom margins along w/some scattered editorial notations. Staple holes at top margin w/some minor moisture staining at top corners. Art remains clean and Exc. From the Archives of Publisher Pete Millar.
