Item Description
Four 15.75x22.25" artboards features pen and ink original art (w/screentone and blue pencil accents) for complete four-page story originally published in Big Daddy Roth #1 in Oct./Nov. 1964 by Pete Millar. Art is for Batman spoof story Battman With Ribbon The Wonder and features caricatures of Batman and Robin the 1966 Batman TV show, showing them meeting up w/Big Daddy Roth (whom they find in "Joker's Giant Tuba Shoppe" which is shaped like an actual tuba. While fighting some crooks, there are several not-so-veiled references to Ribbon's sexuality. Deciding his costume is the cause, Battman asks Big Daddy Roth to design him a more masculine costume, which turns Ribbon into a more muscular and aggressive version of himself. Last page shows other superheroes (Spider-Man, Flash, Hawkman and Superman) protesting Big Daddy Roth and Battman asks Roth to design him a new costume, "Something A Little Less Stud-Like." Each artboard has "Roth Issue" inkstamp at lower left w/inked issue/page numbers. First artboard has staple holes at upper left and top right corner tip off w/creases and streaks of moisture staining (not affecting art). Other artboards have some corner tip wear and scattered margin aging. Despite these issues, art remains clean and Exc. and would make for nice framed display. From the Archives of Publisher Pete Millar.
