Item Description
7.5x9". Comes w/original mailing cover addressed to "Sharp Delany Esquire Collector Philadelphia." Body of letter is in an unknown hand and reads in part "I Do Not Find That There Is Any Legal Mode In Which You Can Proceed With Regard To The Exportation Of The Cargo, Of The Spanish Schooner Mentioned In Your Letter Of The 21st, Except That Designated In The Clauses Relative To The Drawback Of The Duties On Goods Exported." Signed boldly at lower right in quill pen ink "Alex Hamilton." Well executed paper fill restoration around edges affecting text "Department" at top but not affecting signature. VG. Bold well executed example of Hamilton's signature. Comes w/Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
