Item Description
7.75x10.25". Dated "Aug. 4, 1920" addressed to Edwin Sweet, Assistant Sec. of Commerce and former Congressman from Michigan. FDR writes in part "I Do Hope That You Will Be Able To Come Up To The Notification Exercises At Hyde Park. I Particularly Want To Have All Of My Really Old Friends There." Adding "I Am Glad You Are Getting Such Fine Reports About Michigan. I Think Our Policy Should Be To Concede No State To The Enemy, Not Even Pennsylvania." Signed "Franklin D. Roosevelt" boldly in black fountain pen ink at conclusion. Horizontal mailing folds and minor age toning. VF. Signature is Exc. Fascinating 1920 election content provides a window into the hopeful early stages of what would be a disastrous campaign that saw the Cox/Roosevelt ticket lose both MI and PA. Comes w/Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
