Item Description
10x14.25x1.75" deep box contains parts for 1920s game featuring Walter Johnson (1887-1946), a MLB pitcher who played his entire 21-year baseball career for the Washington Senators (1907-1927). He was a two-time AL MVP and 1924 World Series champ. Johnson was elected to the inaugural class of the National Baseball HOF in 1936. Box lid features photo image of Johnson in Senators uniform against baseball game bkg. Lid has all four corners split, w/1-5/8" piece replaced at upper left. Lid has corner creases, edge splits and upper left has 1" tear at corner. Box is VG overall. Box bottom has illustrated gameboard in tray and game scorecard at bottom. Fine overall. Comes w/eight 5/8" dia. aluminum "Walter Johnson Base Ball Game" tokens w/his image and heavy metal top w/baseball plays. Game also comes w/paper scorecard (bearing photo portrait of Johnson) and instruction sheet. Scorecard has been partially filled out in pencil. VG/Fine. Early baseball player endorsed baseball game.
