Item Description
10x13.75" thick artboard has mixed media original art by prolific and renowned Spanish Marvel Comics cover artist Rafael López Espí. Cover is for the Spanish Guerra De Mundos Vol. 2 #24, which reprints Amazing Adventures Vol. 2 #28 and was published in Spain by Mundi in 1975, ©1974 Marvel Comics Group. War Of The Worlds issue featuring Killraven. Artboard has been hand-painted from edge to edge w/art showing Killraven and Volcana Ash battling the Death Breeders, slightly differing from Marvel's cover art by P. Craig Russell in that Espí's interpretation features Killraven, who is not wearing full pants and Volcana Ash has been colored differently. Art area measures 10.5x10.75". Back of artboard has handwritten "H Marvel 24" at top in pencil. Left margin has some tape staining from overlay that was once attached (not included). Artboard has some minor corner tip wear but o/w art remains bright, clean and Exc. A wonderful example from the 1970s, when Espí's art dominated covers of Spanish Marvel comic books. Superb and dynamic cover art. Comes w/reading copy of the Spanish comic this cover art was created for.
