Item Description
Catalogued as "Cartoon Comics" these strip cards were issued in 1935 by an unknown manufacturer but believed to be the same as the Cartoon Adventures set (see next item). There are 48 cards in the set divided into eight subsets that also includes Orphan Annie, Terry And The Pirates and others. This lot is all eight Dick Tracy cards numbered 101-108. Each is 2-5/16x2.75". Full color art fronts, blank backs. © Chicago Tribune. ACC# R27. Card #101 is a Tracy portrait and the most coveted of the set. Tracy is also featured on the other seven cards. PSA grades: EX+ 5.5 #107; VG-EX+ 4.5 #s 104,106; VG-EX 4 #101; VG+ 3 #105; VG 3 #s 102,103; GOOD 2(MK) #108. Scarce issue desired by both non-sport and Tracy collectors.
