Item Description
Lot of three newsstand signs promoting early pulps/magazines. 13.5x18" sign promotes The Yellow Book #11, published by Howard Ainslee & Co. in Oct. 1897. This title was the continuation of The Yellow Kid, which ended w/issue #9. Horizontal fold at center and obvious margin wear along right w/tears and pieces missing. Left margin shows decidedly less wear. Back has four small spots of surface paper wear. VG. 14x19.75" sign for The All-Story Magazine w/great Western stagecoach scene by Valentine Sandberg. c. 1905-1906. The All-Story Magazine was started in Jan. 1905 by Frank Munsey, who sought to capitalize on the growing fiction magazine market. Some horizontal creases and top margin shows moderate wear w/small stain and series of tears, largest measuring 2" w/archival tape repair on back. Lower right corner and bottom margin also shows wear. VG/Fine. 12.75x19.75" sign for The Railroad Man's Magazine features all text, w/"Great American Train Robberies" story title at top. Sign dates to 1906 and promotes the first issue of this publication. Sign has some scattered handling wear and is VF overall.
