Item Description
13.5x21-1/8" artboard features pen and ink original art by Jack Kirby (1917-1994), inked by Vince Colletta (1923-1991) from same issue as previous item. Art is for page 15 and features five panels, showing Pluto and Hippolyta watching Thor and Hercules battle their minions before making a hasty retreat. Bottom splash panel features great image of Thor and Hercules battling back-to-back. This is the only panel the pair are seen in, but it more than packs a wallop! Top margin has stamped Journey Into Mystery title and inked issue/page numbers and month of publication. Top margin also has extensive penciled editorial notation pertaining to action of this page. Scattered penciled margin text. Margins have some scattered dust soiling and lower left corner has faint 1" spot of moisture staining that extends into art. Back has Comics Code Authority inkstamp and top center has approx. 2x4" area of surface paper lift w/three smaller areas of surface paper lift at top. These do not affect front's display. Faint horizontal crease across top third of artboard, crease is very minor and only noticeable when viewed from back. Art itself has some small scattered streaks of staining and is VF overall. Would make for great framed display. Great Thor and Hercules content.
