Item Description
Sky Masters Of The Space Force was a comic strip that dealt w/a then fictional astronaut program. Illustrated by Jack Kirby (1917-1994) w/inks by Wally Wood (1927-1981), it was a strip of the Atomic Age and ahead of its time. Offered here is Kirby and Wood's pen and ink (w/screentone accents) original art for the Dec. 9, 1958 daily strip on 8.5x21-1/8" artboard. Strip features three panels, showing Space Force officials initiating self-destruct sequence on runaway cargo rocket. Last panel has "Kirby-Wood" signature/date circle and George Matthew Adams Service Inc. paste-over strip. Back has George Matthew Adams inkstamp. Some scattered penciling in wide margins, but art remains clean and Exc. Perfect for framing.
