Item Description
7/8"  button carries the text "A Stern Brothers Comedy" and includes small facsimile signature of Rube Goldberg. Goldberg in 1907 introduced  "Mike And Ike-They Look Alike" and they appeared in the second issue of Comic Monthly ( Feb. 1922). Later,  in 1927, he signed a contract with the movie company to introduce the characters on the big screen in a series of two-reel comedies. This button ( also known in 1.25" size)  heralds  the advent of those comedies. A man at the left pulls back the curtain and his cartoon balloon reads "Enter Mike And Ike." The two walk arm and arm onto a stage by a sign with pointing element to the right and inscription "To Movie Fame." Although unmarked as such it is known that both sizes  were produced by Philadelphia Badge Co. Rare and NM.
