Item Description
10.5x15-7/8" artboard has attached sheet of vellum w/pen and ink art by Ernie Colón (1931-2019), inked by Bob Layton for John Carter Warlord Of Mars #17, published by Marvel Oct. 1978. Art is for page 31 and features seven panels, showing John Carter just having won combat, only to discover Dejah Thoris has been taken by Chan Tomar, much to his dismay. John Carter is seen in six panels. Top margin has inked title and inked issue/page numbers, but these are cut off. Margins have scattered editorial notations. Bottom has been signed in black ink by Bob Layton. Back has Marvel copyright stamp and scattered grease penciling. Vellum sheet has tanned w/age and some rippling as applied to artboard. Applied dialogue/captions show some scattered wear/staining. Spot of staining at center right. Fine overall.
