Item Description
9.5" tall vinyl lunchbox w/zippered top Vacuform plastic designed to look like R2-D2, w/"Star Wars - R2-D2" text around bottom of lid. This is a prototype of an unproduced R2-D2 lunchbox that was planned for release by King-Seeley Thermos (the licensee for the Star Wars metal lunchboxes) ©1977 20th Century Fox Corporation, but for unknown reasons, a finalized product was never produced for sale to the public. A handful of these prototypes were features in retailer literature and have since surfaced on the collector's market, w/less than 12 examples known. Complete w/original vinyl carry strap. Vinyl portion of prototype has become slightly misshapen, but still zips close and remains nice for display. Vinyl has .5" split to interior by zipper and tiny split on exterior in same area. Vacuform top has 1.75" crease at back where zipper ends and trace residue to front from old price sticker. Tape stain to interior but o/w Fine. Rare.
