Item Description
1.25". No maker. For the first of three consecutive years as American League champions (see next two lots). The 1929 Philadelphia Athletics were winners of the American League pennant, finishing with a superb regular season record of 104-46 under National Baseball Hall of Fame manager, Connie Mack, who garnered the most managerial wins in MLB history. Leading the Athletics offense was a quartet of future Hall of Fame selectees: Jimmy Foxx (1B), Eddie Collins (2B), Mickey Cochrane (C) and Al Simmons (OF). The mound corps was led by one of pitching's all-time greats, HOF'er, Robert "Lefty" Grove. Philadelphia took on and disposed of the Chicago Cubs during the 1929 World Series to become World's Champions. Surface oxidation to metal back. Front is glossy and Exc.
