Item Description
Errol McCarthy is an artist/illustrator noted for his work on Peterson Publishing titles Hot Rod Cartoons, CARtoons and Cycletoons as well as for his later work on popular toylines like Hot Wheels and Masters of the Universe. Offered here are three artboards w/applied sheets of vellum bearing pen and ink original art w/airbrushing, artboards measuring between 14x16" and14x19". Art is for complete three-page story from 1970s Peterson Publishing title (either Hot Rod Cartoons of CARtoons) spoofing The Six Million Dollar Man, featuring the $5.95 Man (who wears "Steve Awesome" belt buckle) powering a Volkswagen, going on to serve as dragster engine before running out of gas. McCarthy has signed at bottom right of splash panel on first artboard, but large "$5.95 Man" name mostly covers it. Three panels have added printers strips at left/right which do not affect art greatly and vellum has some scattered margin aging. Art o/w remains clean and VF to Exc. Errol McCarthy Collection.
