Item Description
Beautifully painted and glazed 7.5" tall ceramic figurine w/mark on underside for this Italian company as well as "W.114" and "Walt Disney" paper label. Zaccagnini signed a contract w/Disney in 1947 which lasted about ten years. This particular piece is c. 1953 from the time of Disney's Peter Pan animated feature film's original release. Turk was one of the secondary pirate characters and a member of Captains Hook's crew. Figurine is nicely detailed w/a pile of rope behind Turk's feet and a large cutlass held in his hand. Professional repair to mustache chip and nose flake, and a small paint flake to blue iris of one eye. These do not detract substantially from overall Exc. appearance. All pieces from the Zaccagnini Peter Pan series are extremely rare, this being just the second Turk we've offered in our 54 years. This auction also includes two additional pieces from this series, among the best of Zaccagnini's - Mister Smee, #1602 and Indian Chief, #1600, both being the first we've offered in our 54 years.
