Item Description
First example Hake's has offered. 1". Missing back paper for Steiner Engraving & Badge Co. of St. Louis, MO. McAleer served as the team's manager 1902-09 (and played for them in 1902 and 1907). He also played for the Cleveland Spiders 1889-98 and the Cleveland Blues in 1901. Aside from a few other stints as a manager, he was part owner of the Boston Red Sox from 1911-13. Today, he is most often remembered for initiating the customary request that the President of the United States throw out the first ball of the season.
