Item Description
First Hake's has offered. 1.75". No maker. Exceptional design showing all team members in dapper attire of suits and ties. The real photo portraits are over top baseball diamond illustration that includes crossed bats. Each person's name is in tiny letters under their image. In the center circle is manager Connie Mack. Directly below him is Rube Waddell and directly to the left of him is Eddie Plank. Avid vintage baseball collectors will recognize that the format used to potray the team member images here matches that of the W601 Sporting Life Premiums issued between 1902 and 1911. These oversize paper premiums measure 13" X 14" and are some of the most condition sensitive relics of the pre-war era. The 1902 Philadelphia Athletics won the American League pennant with a final record of 83-53 under National Baseball Hall of Fame manager Connie Mack. The pitching staff was led by a pair of youngsters, Eddie Plank and Rube Waddell, both future Hall of Fame selectees as well. Slight trace of age on rim curl. There is a very minor .5" hairline ripple, not a crack, most on the blank area above the Mack photo and only seen in reflected light. Some other trivial surface wear upon magnification. Surface remains totally bright and with high gloss. Still VF. An exceptional A's rarity. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
