Item Description
Only example known to Hake's. 1". Bastian Bros. Co. back paper. The Birmingham Black Barons were members of the Negro National League from 1924-1930, except for the 1926 season when they joined the Negro Southern League for one year. The 1928 Black Barons finished with a record of 44-54, good for fifth place in the NNL that season. The ball club was led by a very young Satchel Paige, who was already becoming a popular gate attraction thanks to his brilliant work on the mound. Other notables from this team include: Sam Streeter, Harry Salmon, Bill Perkins, Red Parnell and Bill Owens. Trace of age to back paper. Button is glossy, Exc. A Negro League rarity.
