Item Description
1.75". No maker. Remnant of ribbon is attached. Large elephant at center, at right center is inset portrait of Harry Davis in A's cap (his name and "First Base" are below). He played for the team 1901-11 and 1913-17, and while with the A's he was a four-time AL home run leader, two-time AL RBI leader and three-time World Series champion. The 1910 Philadelphia Athletics ball club ran away with the American League pennant, finishing the season with a record of 102-48, leaving them 14.5 games ahead of the second place New York Highlanders under National Baseball Hall of Fame manager Connie Mack. Philadelphia would then go on to dispose of the Chicago Cubs, four games to one, to win the 1910 World Series. The Athletics were led by four HOF team members: Eddie Plank (SP), Chief Bender (SP), Eddie Collins (2B) and Frank "Home Run" Baker (3B). Trace of surface wear w/some lt. scratches on the face of Davis seen under magnification. Surface remain very glossy. VF. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
