Item Description
2.25"Cruver, Chicago. One of three varieties in the Muchinsky Collection, this is for "Owens Drug Co./Leaders In Cigars And Soda Water/Winston-Salem." In our previous two auctions we sold varieties for Terminal Hotel (realized $7,788) and pawn shop (realized $3,172). Top center in his iconic hat, is "Connie Mack, Mgr." with 16 surrounding players, all in matching ovals and most in a profile photo with each last name and abbreviated player position below the image. The 1910 Philadelphia Athletics ball club ran away with the American League pennant, finishing the season with a record of 102-48, leaving them 14.5 games ahead of the second place New York Highlanders under National Baseball Hall of Fame manager Connie Mack. Philadelphia would then go on to dispose of the Chicago Cubs, four games to one, to win the 1910 World Series. The Athletics were led by four HOF team members: Eddie Plank (SP), Chief Bender (SP), Eddie Collins (2B) and Frank "Home Run" Baker (3B). Tiny trace of wear to silvering on back. Front has moderate surface wear w/some scuffs, hairline scratches and pinpoint indents. Most only seen in reflected light or upon magnification. Full gloss. Fine. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
