Item Description
1.75". No maker. Very similar to the previous lot but this button has text "1934 Champions" and is without the slight gray circular bkg. around the images. Spring pin hold black/orange ribbon and attached by a loop is a large 4" long full figure celluloid tiger. The 1934 Tigers won the American League pennant with a final record of 101-53 under National Baseball Hall of Fame manager/catcher Mickey Cochrane. In addition to Cochrane the offensive attack was led by a trio of future HOF'ers: Hank Greenberg, Goose Goslin and Charlie Gehringer. The Tigers would go on to lose the 1934 World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven tough games. The ribbon is frayed and worn but still intact and holding the attachment. The button has a few bumps to the touch but remains totally bright and glossy. This and the attachment are Exc. An exceptional design.  Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
