Item Description
First example Hake's has offered. 1.75". No maker. Features portrait photos of four players in Tigers uniforms: Mickey Cochrane, Charlie Gehringer, Hank Greenberg and Schoolboy Roe. Their last name is below the photo. Rim text on this version is just "Detroit Tigers" (see next lot for variety). The 1934 Tigers won the American League pennant with a final record of 101-53 under National Baseball Hall of Fame manager/catcher Cochrane. In addition to Cochrane the offensive attack was led by a trio of future HOF'ers: Greenberg, Gehringer and Goose Goslin. The Tigers would go on to lose the 1934 World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven tough games. Few surface bumps to the touch. Few age dots on rim seen upon close inspection.
