Item Description
3.5". No maker. This is a mate to previous lot. Text done in stencil style and includes 'Champions." Features small but sharp portrait photos of 20 team members in Dodgers uniforms as well as manager Burt Shotton and another club executive dressed in formal attire. As with the previous button, these are studio head shots and some facsimile signatures presented here. Many of the player images utilized here are also identical to the team issued 6" X 9" photo pack of 25 Brooklyn Dodgers ballplayers produced and distributed at Ebbets Field during the 1947 season. Among the players included here are National Baseball Hall of Fame members: Pee Wee Reese, Jackie Robinson, Duke Snider along with potential future HOF candidate, Gil Hodges. The last three of the group are all pictured during their Dodgers' rookie seasons, emphasizing the significance of this rarity.  The 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers were winners of the National League pennant with a record of 94-60. The Dodgers would go on to lose a tough seven game World Series to the mighty New York Yankees. Scattered trace of surface wear including lt. scratches but all just seen under magnification. Remains totally bright and clean w/full high gloss. VF. A rare and desirable Dodgers button. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
