Item Description
3.5". Dawson Co. back stamp. One of four varieties in the Muchinsky collection (see next lot and two others offered in our last auction). This one has text "Kenny King Salutes The Indians" w/Chief Wahoo image at center and below the Cleveland Terminal Tower w/banner "Kenny King's Restaurants." The 1954 Indians won the American League pennant with one of the greatest won-loss records in baseball history, 111-43, under future National Baseball Hall of Fame manager Al Lopez. Cleveland was led on offense by HOF outfielder Larry Doby while the mound corps included a quartet of Hall of Fame starters: Bob Feller, Hal Newhouser, Early Wynn and Bob Lemon. The Indians would go on to be swept by the New York Giants during the 1954 World Series. Glossy, Exc. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
