Item Description
Pair of approx. 13-3/8x19-3/8" artboards feature pen and ink original art for Cave Girl #14, published by Magazine Enterprises 1954. Art is by Bob Powell (1916-1967), a comic artist known for his work during the Golden Age of comics, including Sheena, Queen of the Jungle and Mr. Mystic. Powell also did the pencil art for the iconic bubble gum trading card series Mars Attacks. Art is for pages 22 and 23 and features Thun'Da the Jungle King rescuing slaves from group of Halfmen. Seeing his slave force dwindling from Thun'Da's efforts, the giant gorilla Mugongo leaves his citadel w/his arm of Halfmen to put a stop to Thun'Da's efforts. Thun'Da continues freeing slaves, including Pha before one of the slaves points to approaching Mugongo (who is only seen leaving citadel on first page and is not seen on second page). Top margin has inked title abbreviation and issue/page numbers w/scattered margin penciling at right of second artboard. Art remains clean and Exc.
