Item Description
1.75". Parisian Nov. Co. of Chicago. All celluloid. Front features same image of a baseball pitcher as previous lot. Text below inside a heart reads "In The Heart Of The Commonwealth." Issued for Massachusetts paper. On January 22, 1913, the Worcester Telegram ran a story ("Thorpe With Professional Baseball Team Says Clancy"), soon picked up by other papers, that led to Jim Thorpe being stripped of his 1912 Olympic titles, medals and awards. Reverse has colorful illustration of players on a ball diamond w/tiny cut-out windows where numerals keep track of "Runs Home/Runs Visitors/Strikes/Innings/Balls". Glossy, Exc.
