Item Description
Complete three-piece nice quality outfit by A.S. Fishbach and sold at Macy's as well as being offered as a Gum Inc. premium. 1940. Two versions of the shirt were produced, both w/sleeves and sleeveless. This is version w/sleeves; Marked "Size C" on intact collar tag; 14.75" wide at shoulders, 19.75" tall w/49" length from sleeve to sleeve. Silk-screened design on chest features "S" emblem w/"Superman" name above. Scattered aging and staining, being more moderate at shoulder. Silk-screened design remains complete w/no tears/splits. VG/Fine. Original drawstring cape measures 13" wide at top and tapers to 18" wide at bottom. 21" tall overall. Plain red cape w/blue trim has faded w/age and has obvious moisture staining and wear, w/1" hole at top corner and a few smaller holes/snags. VG. Pants are "Size 14" as marked on intact waistband tag; 12.5" wide at waist (w/partial elastic) and 33" long. Front features great silk-screened design depicting Superman's trunks and legs w/additional images at waist area of two different full body Superman poses and belt w/pair of "S" accents. Some faint staining to one knee and scattered wear to silk-screened design. Fine overall. Among the rarest and nicest of all Superman playsuits. Only the second complete example w/cape we've offered in our 54 years. See following item.
