Item Description
13" tall classic doll by Ideal Novelty & Toy Co. 1940. Movable head and upper body are composition while rest is wood-jointed. Complete and all original w/original red fabric cape, now faded, Figure has not had any touch-ups or restoration of any kind. Face and hair has scattered hairlines but all remains firmly intact. Upper body remains glossy and displays full equilateral triangle chest decal. Upper torso shows just lt. scattered wear w/streak of missing paint by collar. Belt decal shows moderate scattered flaking, copyright text on back approx. 50% complete. Wooden segments of arms and legs show just trace aging/wear. Back has moderate hairline surface cracks to area just below where cape attaches to body. This is mostly hidden by cape. .25" surface flake on back of shoulder where cape attaches. Displays Fine overall. Doll stands for display. The very first Superman figure and a nice example of an original state doll.
