Item Description
Original cardboard mailer box contains 2" wide by 2.75" long heavy gold plastic arrowhead w/interior compartment to hold a battery, which allows a bulb in the front end to light. Complete, even including the typically missing end cap. Main concept was to use lighted tip to "write" on supplied light sensitive/glow-in-the-dark paper. Additional feature was to swivel the end cap to make the bulb flash on/off, thereby sending signals. Each side of the main barrel has raised "Straight Arrow" portrait/name. NM. This 1951 Nabisco "Shredded Wheat" premium also includes 2-3/8x3.75" membership card for the "Straight Arrow Tribe" that's back features glow-in-the-dark material (which still glows brightly). Card is unused and shows just lt. even aging. Exc. Rare. 2.25x35/8" printed troubleshooting paper is also included and is very rare. Exc. Box has Nabisco return address on typed recipient name/address label, which shows wear as opened. Box shows wear and is Fine overall. This premium was only offered briefly due to glow-in-the-dark material restrictions/conservation for the Korean War. Only complete boxed example we know of. 8.5x11" letter on illustrated "Straight Arrow" letterhead features image of box of "Shredded Wheat" and apologizes for not being able to fulfill premium order, refunding money. Facsimile Straight Arrow signature at bottom. Folded as mailed w/some lt. scattered handling wear. VF. Only know example, this being the actual example shown in "The Official Price Guide To Pop Culture Memorabilia" by Ted Hake and comes with COA. The ultimate lot for the well-designed and desirable premium.
