Item Description
1-5/8x2-7/16. Generally considered the rarest of the late 1940s premium Cuban caramel cards. There are 96 cards in the set and they feature players from the four teams of the Cuban Professional League that season. Cards are printed on thick paper stock with b/w photo image on front and text backs w/player and issuer information. Many American players, including Negro League stars, are featured in this set. A corresponding album for the cards was issued.

Hank began his professional baseball career w/the Kansas City Monarchs of the Negro League in 1943 and stayed w/Kansas City until 1947 when he was signed by the St. Louis Browns. After one season in St. Louis, Thompson would play the final eight seasons of his MLB career w/the New York Giants. Thompson finished w/a career batting average of .267 along w/129 home runs and 482 RBIs. Designated by CSG as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection".
