Item Description
1.5x2.25" Cuban card produced for the Aguilitas Cigarette brand and a follow up to the 1924-25 series. The baseball cards are a subset featuring 37 players from the Cuban Professional League. This extensive 900 card set also featured movie and stage stars, boxers, soccer players and other subjects.
Miguel Gonzalez began his professional baseball career in Cuba during the 1910 season for Fe. During the 1913-14 winter league season, Gonzalez was traded to Habana, beginning a long and storied career there. During the summer, Gonzalez would begin his MLB career in 1914 with the Cincinnati Reds. After one season there, Gonzalez would move on to stints with the Giants, Cardinals and Cubs. Upon retiring as an active player in 1932 while with St. Louis, Gonzalez would go on to coach for several more seasons, ending in 1940. Designated by CSG as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection".
