Item Description
1-5/8x2-3/8". Cuban card from set distributed in packs of Diaz cigarettes. The cards in this set feature players from the 1923-24 Cuban Professional League. 85 cards are in the set, the largest and one of the scarcest of all 1920s Cuban card issues. Printed in dark brown with photo on front along with team and player name and position. Card back includes number and description of the series with offer for an album.
Joe Deberry played two seasons in the major leagues for the St. Louis Browns in 1920-21. He played for one season in the Cuban Leagues for Marianao. Designated by CSG as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection".
