Item Description
11x14-1/8" Hi-Art illustration board features pen and ink portrait of MAD magazine mascot Alfred E. Neuman. Original art has been neatly colored w/watercolors and lower right has been signed/dated "D. Ruff - 57," making this an early piece of fan art as the character made his debut on the cover of Ballantine's The MAD Reader in Nov. 1954. He was given the Neuman moniker by MAD's second editor, Al Feldstein, in 1956. Exceptionally well done. Exc. and would make for great framed display.
