Item Description
2-5/8x3-3.75". The 1953 Topps set was originally planned for 280 cards but six players did not agree to contracts with the card company and, therefore, had to be omitted from that season's issue. Cards feature painted player pictures with a color team logo appearing in a bottom panel. Card backs contain the first baseball card trivia questions along with brief stats and player bios. As is the case with most of the card sets that include Mickey Mantle, "The Mick" is once again the most widely collected and valuable card issued. Mantle was a 3-time AL MVP, 20-time AL All-Star, 7-time World Champion, Triple Crown Winner in 1956 and was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974. Beautiful portrait of Mickey adorns nearly the entire front of this beauty with iconic New York Yankees color logo appearing in lower right-hand corner, CSG 3.5 VG+.
