30x35.5" frame w/15x18.5" opening for partially printed document. Brass plaque in display reads "Original Military Commission Appointing John O'Neil As Captain In The Veteran Reserve Corps, Signed On August 1, 1864 By President Abraham Lincoln And Countersigned By Edwin Stanton As Secretary Of War." Professionally framed and matted w/engraving at upper left. Document is folded w/moderate handling wear. Signatures and inked inscription are lightly faded. Fine. Blue seal remains intact. Not examined out of frame. A wonderful display ready for hanging. Comes w/Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
