Item Description
1.25" w/no maker name or union bug. Trivial wear only in reflected light. NM. The Columbia University branch of Students For A Democratic Society (SDS) was responsible for one of the groups most memorable demonstrations jointly w/Student Afro Society (SAS) protesting the construction of a segregated gym near Morningside Park and occupying Hamilton Hall and Low Library in April of 1968. These demonstrations came to an violent end when NYPD stormed the Library and Hall using tear gas, injuring 132 students and four faculty members while arresting over 700 protesters.
